Welcome to the first half of 2014 - it's been an odd year. I went through a reading slump in the spring. I've started and abandoned many books. I've read a lot of different types of books and yet there have also been a lot of great books that will be life-long favorites. I think my reading taste is growing and changing more than it has in past years. It will be interesting to see how the next six months pan out!

Five Star Fiction

The Care and Management of Lies by Jacqueline Winspear
(Review coming next week on publication day)

Five Star Non-Fiction

Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand

Four Star Fiction

This is great news that you're out of your reading slump and am back on the trail. Thank you so much for including The Promise on your list of favorite reads for the first half of 2014. I'm thrilled!

Have you had a chance to read Gary Schanbacher's Crossing Purgatory or Ron Rash's The Cove? They're on my historical fiction list of favorites. So many great books out there; if only we had more time for reading.

Ann: Thank you for stopping by and thank you for writing two amazing books that gave me so much to enjoy during the first part of 2014! I have not heard of either of those books but they're on the top of my list now!
